Tangerine Tango - Bring Your Kitchen Design into 2012!
Whether it be fashion, interiors, print, or web, if you’re a follower of the design world, you know that every December the new Pantone Color for the next year is announced. And as it is every year, the “IT color to come” was just announced and the “viviacious, enticing hue” for 2012 is PANTONE® 17-1463 Tangerine Tango. Not a complete surprise, this bold and bright color has been a favorite of the design industry for many years.
So often, kitchen designs are the one part of the house that suffer from trend neglect. Maybe it’s because the kitchen is such a utilitarian room that it is often one of the last places people worry about when decorating. That really shouldn’t be the case, since there are so many little purchases that can make your kitchen au courant. Don’t be afraid to inject some color into your kitchen! Today I’m going to show you that you can still be trendy and not have to go through big changes in your kitchen. Remember, simple is always better!

I took an example from our own showroom here in Massachusetts and threw in some of our new favorite color with different shades and hues.

The use of contrast works well. If you have a light or a white kitchen, the orange stands out, highlighting areas that you may have not even noticed yourself!
Try some little things like plates, vases and kitchen towels to give your kitchen design that dynamic boost of energy.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
How have you embraced the new color of the year?
